Basalt Raw Material: The Foundation of Taishi Rockwool Performance

Taishi rockwool adopts high‑quality natural basalt (complemented by dolomite) as its core raw material. Different from slag‑based rockwool, it lays a fundamental basis for high durability, fire resistance and hydrolysis resistance right from the mineral source.

Raw Material Screening & Control

Unified raw‑material access standards are implemented across all seven production bases:

  1. Each incoming batch of basalt ore undergoes chemical composition testing; ore with excessive impurities is rejected directly.
  2. Batch‑traceability system enables finished‑product backward tracing to ore batches, facilitating quality review for overseas projects.
  3. Auxiliary materials including binders and water‑repellent agents go through compatibility verification to guarantee water‑repellent performance and dimensional stability.

As a volcanic rock, basalt features high content of silica and alumina, making it an ideal mineral feedstock for manufacturing rockwool with high acidity coefficient.

Leveraging Basalt Properties via Manufacturing Processes

Raw materials are melted at temperatures above 1450 °C, then centrifuged into fine fibres by four‑axis high‑speed centrifuges, followed by pendulum‑laying and three‑dimensional fibre forming. The electric‑furnace production line in Yongji, Shanxi further optimizes melt homogeneity.

  • Supported by electric‑furnace technology, the finished product achieves a stable acidity coefficient ≥2.0 (≥1.8 for conventional processes), delivering superior hydrolysis‑resistance and anti‑ageing performance for service life equal to that of buildings.
  • Long and slender fibres with low shot content; thermal conductivity as low as 0.036 W/(m·K).
  • Melting temperature >1000 °C, Class‑A non‑combustible. No toxic fumes or molten drips occur under fire exposure.

Value for Overseas Projects

  1. High acidity coefficient: Resists pulverization under harsh overseas conditions such as high humidity, coastal climate and large diurnal temperature swings, lowering long‑term maintenance costs.
  2. Inherent mineral safety: Free of asbestos, CFC and HCFC, complying with global environmental procurement requirements.
  3. Carbon‑footprint documentation available: Natural basalt is recyclable; 100 % of production solid waste is recycled back to furnaces, supporting overseas ESG requirements as well as LEED / BREEAM green‑building certification applications.

Summary

High‑grade basalt feedstock, rigorous incoming‑material inspection and state‑of‑the‑art electric‑furnace melting technology constitute the cornerstone of consistent Taishi rockwool performance. Our products are suitable for demanding global projects including external walls, curtain walls, roofing, marine and offshore engineering.
